In case you’re thinking of changing jobs and need some ideas about what direction to take, here are some fun, but real jobs out there that you might want to consider. The Top 10 starting with number
10. Professional Sleeper
Believe it or not this is a real job, but it’s in Finland. A hotel in Finland hired a member of staff to be their ‘professional sleeper’ for testing the comfort of their beds. The individual sleeps in a different one of the hotel beds each night and writes a review about each one.
- Drying Paint Watcher
This job is located in the UK if you’re interested. The job specs entail spending the days painting sheets of cardboard to test how long new paint mixes take to dry. As part of the process he watches for changes in color and texture and records the data.
- Full-Time Netflix Viewer
Yes, it’s true and if you’re an avid videophile you’ll love this job. Netflix has someone who is hired to watch all of their content before it is available to the public. Their role is to review and assign each program its correct tag, which helps viewers find exactly what they want, whether it’s crime, drama, mystery, documentary, animals, nature, and more.
- Train Pusher
You’ll need to move to Japan for this gig. Never mind the crowded subways and undergrounds in New York and London, Japan hires what are known as ‘Oshiyas’ to help pack as many people onto a train as possible by pushing them from the outside until the doors will close.
- Professional Mourner
In South East Asia it is considered a good thing if funerals are loud. It is believed that a loud funeral will assist the dead as they travel to the afterlife. So professional mourners are hired to cry and weep loudly throughout the funeral service.
- Snake Milker
Really? This is certainly not the job for the faint of heart. But if you’re brave and love adventure you might enjoy the job of a snake milker. Your job would be to collect the venom of poisonous snakes in jars for use in anti-venoms and other medication. Good luck!
- Dog Food Taster
For those with a stout appetite and strong stomach, a dog food tester’s job might be appealing. The job includes tasting new dog food products, including bones, tinned meat, and biscuits for flavor and texture in comparison to rival dog food brands and human food. Too bad dogs can’t talk, but then someone would be out of a job.
- Odor Judge
Seriously? In order to test the effectiveness of new products, ‘odor judges’ are hired to smell volunteers’ breath, feet and armpits. To make sure their judgment is accurate, the members of staff have their sense of smell tested monthly. Let’s hope those products do what they’re supposed to, especially for the judges’ sakes.
- Marmite Taster
Marmite is a yeasty, salty, soy sauce flavor served as a food spread, one of those foods you either love or hate. One marmite taster, St. John Skelton has been doing the job for 30 years and has consumed around 3.000 jars of marmite. If you have a penchant for an ‘acquired taste’ this could be fun.
1. Scuba Diving Pizza Delivery Man
Your kids are going to think you’re the coolest Dad on Earth with this job. In Florida there is an underwater hotel where they have a scuba diving pizza delivery man who supplies them with pizza by carrying them through the sea in a watertight case. What service and it’s as crispy as you like it!
Happiest Ever Father’s Day to All You Dads!
